I went to Supanova over the weekend and hung around for two days with my son.
I shopped and bought the three miniature sets of the gifts given by Santa Claus to the children in Narnia - quite a bargain at $25 each (reduced from $80 each). Alex picked up a selection of Nintendo Ds games for $25 each.
Also bought the Marvel "Guilty Pleasures" (Anita Blake) graphic novel
I went to the seminar series and watched Jewel Staite (Kallee from Firefly) and Louis Ferengio (the TV Hulk).
Sat through a couple of Anime movies in the Cosplay building. Cosplayers can be very scary people. Actually I found them (as a group) to be quite rude. For example, when cosplayer were posing for camera shots on stage, they whooped and applauded. Five minutes later, a group of martial artists did a display and they gave them virtually no applause and many people left
temporarily.
There was an FX workshop were you could have wounds put on you for free - except the queue was a mile long!
Having got bored early on Sunady I entered the Queensland Games PC character drawing competition on a whim and won first place. I think because every other entrant looked like anime characters and mine didn't - so it stood out.
Supanova really needs to arrange for more ATMs to be on site as the Bendigo Bank ATM ran out of cash by Sunday morning.
Overall 8 out of 10 - the event needs more board games. There were a number of CCgs and collectible miniature games running but they seemed disorganised. I did volunteer to run a selection of boardgame competitions but received no reponse from organisers.
