I have recently signed up as a Gateway Organiser for the Magic Play Network.
What this means is that I have received some DCI cards and better yet some exclusive prize foil playsets to give out at the Grand Melee!
In exchange each player at the table for Grand Melee needs to have a DCI number so I can record the results of each event and send the results to Wizards. As casual events the results won't affect anyone's player rating.
I'll bring some of the foils along to the next meeting, for everyone to see and also to give out during the Melee.
I'm thinking of doing a 'lucky first' prize so that the first person eliminated in each Melee will receive a foil playset of their choice. We can do a random giveaway too.
I've no idea when or if Wizards will send out any new foil playsets, so lets enjoy them while we have them, and you can now walk away with somehting even if you don't win at Melee (while stocks last). Hopefully as I report events Wizards will send out more cards from time to time.
