The Commander league will start in October 2011. The league must have a minimum of 6 players. Entry into this league is a one-off payment of $10. This will go towards prizes. The leagues will run until July 2012, with prizes distributed at the July meeting.
If the minimum 6 players aren't involved by the end of the December meeting, then the league won't go ahead (if you've paid you'll get your money back).
The Commander league is open only to club members.
Games: Games are multiplayer games for 3-5 players, or else a 2-player duel. The attack anywhere rule is used (you can attack or be attacked by any other player). In the case of a duel, the match is best of 3 games.
Decks: Decks must be constructed as per the Commander format Full rules here: www.mtgcommander.com/rules.php.
summary:
Choose a Legendary Creature to be your Commander.
Cards in the deck must have the colour or colours of your Commander or be colourless.
No cards with mana symbols that your Commander does not have may be taken. eg if your Commander is Blue and Black, no card with a Green, White or Red mana symbol on it may be taken, regardless of where this appears on the card (ie in the cost or in the rules text). Remember that Hybrid mana symbols count as both mana symbols.
Your deck must be exactly 100 cards, including your Commander.
Other than basic land, only 1 copy of a card can be used in your deck.
In addition to the official ban list, the card Shahrazad is also banned.
Please note the official ban list can be updated, so do check back. Having a legal deck is your responsibility!
Points: Points are awarded at the end of each club meeting as follows: played in one or more matches, 1; won one or more matches, 1. The minimum points you can get in a month where you play is 1, the most is 2.
Prizes: The entry fee of each player will be spent on prize cards. These will be Mtg singles, and will all be Legendary Creatures (new Commanders!)
Prize distribution: Prizes will be distributed at the July 2012 meeting. The player with the most points gets the first choice, then the next player and so on, until all the prize cards have been taken.
If you're interested, please let me know either on this thread or in person at a club meeting this year.
For the purpose of A Game of Games, all matches have a multiplier of 1.
