21st September
26th October
23rd November
7th December
I had another good year at winter retreat. ASlthough I didn't win at Twilight Imperium I thought I scored well. I ignored all the fighting going on around me and just went for the public objective victory points. Thank you to my fellow TI players for sticking with the game for so long (11 hours)
I came last at Caylus and thoroughly enjoyed the game.
I played Coloretto and was disappointed. I think Zoolooretto is a better game
I won at Through the Desert but that was because I accidentally did something clever so that win doesn't count.
Congratulations to the organisers of the event and to the LXG committee for running the club so well.

Yes thanks to Eddie especially for being our pont man and mkaing it all happen this year!
It was also great to see the dam itself full again after years of drought.
Game wise I discovered Dominion, very fun card based game, plus the Magic Commander sub-format. Also a D&D card based game that I card remember the name of, but it was basically three card stud except with dragons.
As for the other board games, it was like getting back in touch with old friends.
Aliens (WON!) 7 of 9, sorry Hicks; someone pointed out that I always play Dietrich, and they're drawn randomly!
Caylus, a poor showing considering the two newbies in the game. Still one of my favourites.
Chaos Marauders (won). A blast from the past, I played this 20 years ago, and still have the required skill (ie, it's a pastime).
Puerto Rico ( all new buildings variant), It is alright, but I don't think it adds that much to the original game.
Tobago (won) A nice simple game, which ends just as you learn the rules (luckily for me). Liam got distracted beeping his horn at the dinosaurs (wrong game, buddy).
San Juan - Ben gave me a training game at this one. Definitely not Puerto Rico, but I will try it again.
Citadels - Darren convinced me to stay up for this one, and it was the players, not the game that makes this entertaining. I have no idea who won this, besides not me.
Azeatus (or some such). A space exploration game where you can't blast your opponent (what is the point?). It is along the lines of Spacefarers of Cataarn but not as tedious. Will try again, now that I understand the objective.
Mississippi Queen - I don't think I won, but I did do astonishingly well, considering my lack of forward planning.
Kill Dr Lucky - sorry Megan, It is no longer on my to do list. I have played my first and last game of this.
Modern Art (WON!) by $11k. Only certain people will understand the significance of this. As an aside, If Morton and I aren't playing, it's not worth the effort.
MAGIC - for the fifth and final time I have permanently sworn off this fearsome waste of my time.
Shadows over Camelot - For the first time I was the villain, in the uncomfortable role of teaching the other players the game. "And I would've won, too, if it wasn't for you rotten kids!" Actually we were booted out by the caretakers.
So I am glad I went, even though a certain player infected me for the following Monday.
The pick of the food remained the same, the Scones and the Crumble.
I'm sure there was another game, but my opponents will have to remind me of it.
And apologies to the person I woke, after going into the wrong cabin!
